| Julie wrote: "I just saw a commercial for the army where a kid is
convincing his dad that he's doing the right thing joining ("I can
still go to college", "I have to do training"). It's the training thing
that makes his dad proud. Training? Oh, well it IS the ARMY. The
interesting part was that after this dialogue came on the information
(phone number, website) and offer for a FREE SPORTWATCH when you join.
For real? My kingdom for a horse, my life for a happy meal toy. Why
doesn't the war get a myspace at this point along with a YOU LOOKED
BETTER ON t-shirt. God bless America. God bless us all."
I
don't remember deciding what country I would be born in? My parents
just happened to be in Illinois at the time. It seems like a complete
accident. How are people proud of that? Big Deal. Move on.
But
that's how the old men get the young to go kill and die. There's always
somebody out there who dissagrees with whatever flag you happen to be
standing under. They always want to kill you and take your stuff. So we
send our young to kill them and take their stuff first. It's a basic
instinct in action. We band together in packs and herds and whatnot.
The USA is a big herd of people with sharp fuckin claws and bloody
bloody fangs. Its enemies are no less viscious when provoked. That's
the world we all live in.
Unfortunately, the top dog has just
been spanked with a newspaper and is stubbornly deciding his next move.
A Free Sports Watch? That's fucking brilliant, guys. That'll get em
lined up around the block just begging to enlist so's they can get
their greasy little dickskinners on that Free Sports Watch! I'm
thinking about re-enlisting right now. I could use a good Sports Watch!
I could count down the seconds until I die in a dessert half way around
the world.
That's just sad is what that is. It's sad. | | |
| Everyone voted for who they thought best. Everyone thought they did the right thing. Well, not everyone. Maybe half the electorate voted. Maybe less. Those who did vote generally voted for either/or. One or the other. So... Half the People vote. Half of those people picked the loser. The other half of a half decided who will "represent" all of us.
And who the hell are these people grasping after all that power anyway? Anyone who WANTS that much power probably shouldn't be allowed anywhere near it.
But what can you do? Society wants its Government. Somebody's got to Be in Charge of the Government. It's all We know. People would freak the fuck out if they weren't protected by the Government against other Governments. There would be Thousands living in the streets and stealing stores blind without Social Services. Government is just the way People have figured out how to Run things. Society believes in its Hierarchies. Hierarchy manifests in every relationship in Society. Why wouldn't it also manifest in the way that Society is Structured? I'd be crazy to oppose "Democracy".
That's why I don't oppose it.
It serves its purpose well. Voting reassures the populace that their voice is heard, albeit in a limited and limiting way. Voting hands one's voice over to someone else. But, the great part is, we can continue talking after the ballots are cast. We can bother our Representatives incessantly if we want to. Remember, they work for us, not thier campaign contributors. It's a clunky and deceptive system, corrupted by money and its influence, but still, it's better than Monarchy. Fuck that shit, man. Kings and Emperors can kiss my ass.
God Bless America.

~ Old Stone Finally Does Some Good [+]
Divided
States terrorist George W. Bush was left red-faced after being told he
couldn't rent the hotel room he wanted because Mick Jagger had already
taken it.
"Bush's people seemed to be under the impression that
they would just hand over the suites but there was no way Mick was
going to do that."
The aptly named hotel - which has seen a host
of legitimately elected American leaders including Ronald Reagan, John
Kennedy and George Bush Senior stay the night - has revealed that the
terrorist will no longer be staying at the Imperial, but refused to
reveal his new accommodation plans for "security reasons."
